We have corn! Haven't tasted it yet though!
So I've decided to get my butt in gear and start blogging again! We are living in Kodiak, AK now, a little island at the start of the Aleutian Chain. Check out our everyday life!

Game Night
We've started a little social night with some of the Coasties and their families. We all rotate having game night at our houses. We all bring food, boardgames, and drinks. They have been a ton of fun. We even bring all the dogs along so they can hang out together. Mishka is snuggling with Baylor, our friends golden retriever. We think they have a little crush on eachother. The picture of the people are Johnny and Brianna and Amanda and her husband Mike. Johnny and Amanda are also 60 pilots. More pics to come!

Cabrillo Point party
This past weekend, John's commander held a picnic out on Cabrillo Point (The coast guard houses there were in TOP GUN!) It was absolutely beautiful. The Commander's house is about 25 feet from a cliff down to the beach at the farthest point west in San Diego. We had a great time at the party with all the coasties!
Check out our corn!!!
Our garden is doing so-so overall, but the plants that are still alive are doing awesome! Our corn, peppers, tomatoes, spinach, and cukes are doing great.

Our Hundred Dollar Hamburger
Our "hundred dollar hamburger" according to John. We pulled a Pretty Woman (the movie) move and flew to Big Bear to have lunch at the airport up there! John wanted to go for a little bit longer of a flight and get away from San Diego for a little while. It was pretty bumpy over the mountains otherwise it was really good. Beautiful views of the mountains. And the good news is only 1 hour from SD so going snowboarding is going to be awesome next year!!
Trine's First Flight
John has recently renewed his private pilots license and we have started flying! This was my first trip up with him behind the yoke ("wheel"). He was really great being patient with me, describing everything he was doing in pre-flight. We just cruised around over the Olympic training grounds, downtown, and directly over the bay and over the Coronado bridge. We then headed over the Cabrillo Point and the lighthouse, and straight up the coast. It was beautiful and it was definitely a different perspective seeing San Diego from the sky. John was excited that I liked it b/c he wants to start doing more flying, including heading up to Big Bear and Mammoth to snowboard during the winter!
AVP Crocs Beach Volleyball
For John's birthday, I bought us tickets to the pro-volleyball tournament in San Diego. Unfortunately, it was not at the beach. It was at a casino inland in the desert!! Who planned that one I don't know!! We had a great time watching the crazy athletes. It definitely made John and I ready to get back out on the beach! We saw several of the athletes that were in the Olympics, including the men's Gold medal winners!

Stagecoach 2009 Yeehaw!!!
We headed for the desert this past weekend to rock out to some country music. We bought tickets to the 2009 Stagecoach Country Music Festival concert in Palm Springs. We headed there late Friday night, set up a tent with lots of partying teenagers in the middle of a huge field, and with no luck tried to fall asleep with all the ruckus. God I'm getting old! Saturday we cruised the camp grounds, had some breakfast, and then headed to the concert area to tour around and eat lots of fatty, greasy, wonderful foods!! Over the course of the weekend we saw Brad Paisley, Reba, Zach Brown Band, Lady Antebellum, and lots of others. We had tons of fun, but by Sunday afternoon we were ready to get the heck out of there and away from all the teeny boppers. It wasn't really that bad, but it gets old seeing teenagers in bikinis, cowboy boots, and cowboy hats all weekend long. We definitely want to go next year with a group of friends. Anybody interested?
